BIOGRAPHY
Sheffield-born Erik Clewes is a watercolourist, yet he is equally at home painting oils, acrylics and pen and wash. He has no specialism, his subject matter is gleaned from the world around him. His representational style is clean and precise, and shows a true depth of feeling for the subject. Erik paints what he sees, and how he feels his public wish to see it.
In 1973 he gave up a career in industrial design and entered teaching, and later moved to Coventry, West Midlands. During this period he began to take a serious interest in his painting.
Erik now paints from his Coventry home.
